Welcome Back From Head of School Father Brian Sullivan

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

Dear St. Benedict's Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year! It's been a refreshing start, with a week and a half of preplanning alongside our dedicated faculty and a successful first week of classes. The energy on campus is palpable, and I can't help but feel the enthusiasm radiating from our entire community.

As we gather together this year, a powerful theme resonates - the centrality of God in our community. Our morning prayers underscore this belief, reminding us that each teacher is a vessel through which this spirit of unity and faith flows. In a beautiful convergence, our chaplains and I have emphasized this principle, fostering an environment where every individual, young and old, is supported in their journey of growth and learning.

Reflecting on the past week, our faculty and staff engaged in various enriching activities. From a collaborative session on diversity and inclusion to essential training on school safety, our campus has been a hive of activity as classrooms were prepared, lesson plans were refined, and the groundwork for a year of inspiring education was laid.

To add to the excitement, I am thrilled to unveil a remarkable addition to our St. Benedict's story, the launch of our new podcast, "Planting Seeds: Cultivating Critical Thinking, Creativity, Community, and Lifelong Learning." This 8-part limited podcast series, hosted by me, provides an intimate window into the heart of our St. Benedict's community. Through conversations with esteemed guests, including alums, parents, faculty, and staff, we will explore the rich tapestry of experiences that define us. Join us on this journey of insight and inspiration, with the first episode airing this Friday, August 25, 2023. Learn more about the podcast here: www.stbs.org/post/podcast-planting-seeds.

Here are a few reminders for the start of the school year:

  • Carpool: In order to ensure the safety of our students, each family is assigned a carpool number and must display a school-issued hang tag when picking up their student(s) in the carpool line. Also, please ensure you have downloaded the required PikMyKid app to ensure a smooth carpool process for your family. A guide to using PikMyKid and the delegation process for our carpool app is attached here.

  • Stingers Unplugged: This year, the Labor Day Break will accompany an Early Dismissal on Friday, September 1, 2023. IIf you require extended care for your children during this time, our Stingers Squad offers Stingers Unplugged—an option for extended care for your child until 4:00 P.M. Registration will be open from Friday, August 18, 2023, to Monday, August 28, 2023. To learn more about Stingers Unplugged and its availability on non-school days, please consult the Stingers Squad team: Stingers Unplugged Details or to register click here.

  • School Lunch: We are excited to introduce our new lunch service, Yay Lunch, which provides freshly made, balanced meals for students, faculty, and staff through a simple online ordering process. All meals are prepared daily by local food partners and delivered to schools by the Yay Lunch team.

  • The Weekly Buzz: If you have yet to receive the weekly email to parents - The Weekly Buzz, please contact Katrina Garnes, Director of Marketing and Communications at St. Benedict's, at k.garnes@stbs.org.

In closing, I sincerely thank each family for being an integral part of our St. Benedict's community. Your support, enthusiasm, and partnership make all that we do possible. Here's to a year filled with growth, discovery, and endless possibilities.

I look forward to the exciting journey ahead!

Warm regards,

Father Brian Sullivan
